Volusia County Sheriff’s investigators working with the victims of Wednesday’s home invasion in Pierson have developed a computer-generated likeness of one of the three suspects who barged into a home on Little Brown Church Road and bound and robbed a family at gunpoint. Investigators are hoping the public will recognize the image and be able to help identify one or more of the suspects. Anyone with information about the crime can call in a tip on an anonymous, toll-free line and qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.

The Sheriff’s Office launched the investigation after five people in the home, including a married couple, another adult woman and two children, ages 10 and 15, were bound and robbed by three armed intruders. The same married couple was victimized at their home during a similar attack in February.

In Wednesday’s attack, the victims said that the suspects drove into their yard and asked whether they were interested in selling their pickup truck. While talking to one of the victims in the front yard, one of the suspects pulled out a pistol, put it to the victim’s side and forced him back into the home. All three suspects were armed with handguns and had their faces hidden with hoods or bandanas. Once inside, the intruders corralled all of the occupants into a bedroom. The suspects ransacked the home, but after failing to find much of value, they threatened the kill the 10-year-old girl if the victims didn’t give up their money. The suspects bound all five victims and left them on the floor of the bedroom and then fled the house with some jewelry, a gun and an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect depicted in the computer-generated image was described as an approximately 5’9” black man who weighed about 200 pounds and had black hair, brown eyes and a medium build. One of the other suspects also was black and the third was Hispanic.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Sheriff’s investigator Jim Mathis at (386) 943-7866 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
